Resumen

Luego de hacer una reseña histórica de la investigación en la Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), se consideran las actuales instancias de apoyo institucionales a la misma destacando tanto las actividades de promoción y las fuentes de financiamiento tanto internas como externas. Se destacan las líneas estratégicas que guían a la Vicerrectoría de Investigación e Innovación, haciendo hincapié principalmente sobre las relativas al currículo, mediante la relación esencial que debe existir entre la investigación y la docencia. Se pone de relieve la necesidad de apoyo a la investigación pura para el fortalecimiento académico institucional y de apoyo a la investigación aplicada para el desarrollo nacional con la implementación de un modelo desarrollo integral e independiente sustentado por el Estado.

Abstract

After presenting a historical account of academic research at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), this article discusses the current institutional areas that support it, emphasizing both the promotional activities and the financial resources, internal as well as external. It examines the strategic lines that guide the Office of the Vice-President for Research and Innovation, laying the stress mainly on the guidelines for the curricula, by means of the key relationship that should exist between research and teaching. The text also highlights the need to support research per se, in order to contribute to the institutional and academic enhancement and applied research to promote national development by implementing an integral and independent development plan that is State-supported.
