Abstract

The aim of this paper is to examine the psychometric properties and applicability of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) in university students in the Dominican Republic. An intentional sample (N = 102) made up of a group of students from a private university was selected to answer an online questionnaire containing the SWLS instrument. From the data collected, using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis techniques, the evidence of validity of the internal structure and reliability was estimated. The results of the study confirm a one-factor model (?1= 3.299, ?2 x 1 > 65 %); (NFI = .984; CFI = 1,000; GFI = .986; RMSEA = .000; AIC = .237; AGFI = .957), high reliability (? = .866), and show favorable results and significant evidence about the suitability of SWLS as a valid, reliable and applicable instrument for to evaluate satisfaction with life in university students in the Dominican Republic.
