Abstract

Human beings are multidimensional subjects whose integral development depends on the articulation of intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions. Within this framework, humanistic education and the arts—particularly music—play a fundamental role in higher education. Música en Sartenejas. 1970–2005, una experiencia musical universitaria, by Sonia García García, rigorously reconstructs the history of musical life at Universidad Simón Bolívar, highlighting its contribution to integral education, citizenship, and social commitment. Drawing on documentary, testimonial, and audiovisual sources, the book demonstrates how music became a key link between humanism, science, and technology, offering a valuable account of the university as a space for cultural creation and collective development.
